It was a Saturday morning, and the little girl was still in the outhouse on an old abandon highway. She was quiet, her dark eyes staring at the door and waiting for her parents to return. Had they got bit by those disgusting beings, or did they get lost? She stayed quiet, hugging her small bear and sitting on the toilet. How long has it been? A day since her parents told her to stay in this place and never come out until they knocked? She was 7 now, and her curly black hair fell in messy clumps over her olive skin. She stared, waiting for the knock that seemed to have never come. She thought for a moment. Dare she open the door and take a peek? No. She should wait. She was a good girl and good girls wait for the knock, if told. She bit her bottom lip, staring at the peeling paint on the wooden door. She hopped off of the toilet, quietly walking to the door and opened it while peering outside.

A girl with tan skin and platinum blonde hair traversed the abandoned highway, sighing as she ran a hand through her hair. The girl's name was Grey, a 19 year old survivor of the apocalypse. Blue-green eyes scanned the area of the highway, nothing but abandoned broken cars and dead bodies of both the living and the undead littered the area. She sighed heavily, wondering when this apocalypse would ever end. Right now, all she wanted was a place to sleep, and continued to walk down the highway so she can find a new town to shelter herself.

The young girl spotted movement and she squinted her brown eyes to see what it was. It didn't help, so she decided to get a close-up view of this thing that had caught her interest. She climbed out of the outhouse, letting the door slam gently on the frame as she walked closer to the person who turned out to be a woman. Could she help her? Of course she could.
'Miss.' She called out, still holding her stuffed bear in her small hands. Her skin was dirty and her hair greasy, yet she stared at the woman with slight happiness in her eyes, 'Did you see two people that looked like me, but they're older?'

Grey looked down at the girl who called to her and her brows rose, locks of platinum blonde hair framing her face. How long has this kid been out here? "I'm sorry, kid. I haven't seen anyone for miles that wasn't a zombie. How long have you been out here by yourself? It's not safe." She said.

Her brown eyes lowered when the woman had replied with a no to her question. That was a no, right? Not seeing anyone but a zombie. She sighed softly, her shoulders slumping as well as her eyes plastered onto the cracked pavement.
'It's not safe.'
She looked up at the woman, her gaze soft as her curly black hair did some physics as she moved. 'I've only been in the outhouse for the night. My parents said for me to stay there and wait for them. but they never returned.'
ooc;; Physics.

ooc;; Physics.
Grey gently scratched her head, looking at the road ahead before she spoke again. "Ahhh...I wouldn't recommend staying here, kid. Whether your parents are okay or not, you'd be a sitting duck for a walker if you stay in that outhouse." She sighed, "Why don't we at least find you a safer hiding place?"

ooc;; Once upon a time there was a lonely little contest thread in the Board Information. . . . Hint, hint. xD
The woman seemed right, but she was still only 7 and would choose her parents over any stranger. This woman looked like a woman she would go to for help, though. Green eyes stared at the woman questioningly, before she looked back at the outhouse.
'But. . . My parents. . .' She felt small tears form in her eyes when she thought of them. They surely must have survived somehow.
'Can we look for my parents?' She turned her attention back to the lady, seeming more eager to try with small tear-filled eyes. Desperate, more like.

"...Fine." Grey acquiesced, though she wasn't very good with traveling in pairs. Especially not children. "We'll look for your parents while we find you a safer hiding spot." She said, then looked down on the road and began picking up rocks. "But just in case they come here while we're off.." She trailed, arranging the rocks into an arrow pointing to the direction she planned on going in front of the outhouse, "They'll know where to find you." She said, then began to walk down the road. "Come on, kid. You're gonna have to keep up." She called.

The girl's expression changed from disappointment to excitement when the woman had complied to going on the hunt for her parents. She picked her shoulders up and smiled softly at the lady.
'My name is Alice.' She said after she had caught up to her, speed walking to keep up. 'I don't know where they went. Are you a good tracker? Can you figure out where they went?'
Her green eyes glanced from the road to the lady as she spoke in between her heavy breathing. She, though, was determined to keep up, and it didn't seem to slow her down any,

"Grey." She introduced upon hearing Alice say her own name. "I'm going to rely on logic for the most part, and up ahead is the nearest city. If your parents left for food or..whatever, they probably went there. It makes the most sense." Internally, Grey knew that there was an extremely high possibility of her parents being dead. Or even worse, they could be infected. Whatever the case may be, she had already given her word to Alice that she'd help find them. When she saw the little girl struggling to keep up with her pace, she looked around the area to check for zombies. When she saw that the coast was clear, she slowed her pace down so that Alice wouldn't get worn out so quickly.

Grey. The name was pretty. Much better than the name Alice.
'Can I change my name to Grey, too?' She looked up at her, smiling a toothless grin, as she had a few teeth fall out due to her growing up.

"No, kid. Alice is a fine name, you can be like Alice from the story. This place is..your Underland." She said, outstretching her arms in a form of display. "A world of the unknown where you never know what'll happen next. You can make your own story." She said, conveying her words as if she were already making a story.

'Underland?'
She asked questioningly. What the heck was that? Being born only two years old into the apocalypse, she didn't have the time - or her parents didn't have the time - to read stories. She had not heard a true story in all of her life, other than stories of her parent's day. This was surely absurd to her, this whole Underland thing. 'And I am making my story right now. I can tell my parents about you, and that will be a story. Right?'

"Sure." Grey nodded, "You can tell them your whole adventure you had looking for them." As they continued to walk, Grey kept an alert gaze on the area all around them. She had no desire to be surprise attacked of all things.

Adventure. She liked that word. It meant fun to her. Adventure like the adventure her parents had once in a while. It meant new places, and new people.
'Right. Adventure.' She smiled at the lady.
